Canadian International Air Show Returns to Toronto Labour Day Weekend
The Canadian International Air Show (CIAS), also known as the CNE Air Show, is celebrating its 76th edition this Labour Day weekend, a long-standing tradition in Toronto that marks the unofficial end of summer. Historical Context and Public Reception
The CIAS has a rich history, aiming to celebrate aviation, honor its past, and inspire future generations about opportunities in the aerospace industry by showcasing diverse aircraft 4. While widely popular, the show has faced criticism in the past from local groups concerned about the promotion of militarism and the potential impact of loud jet noises on refugees and immigrants who have experienced conflict 4. Last year, protests were organized calling for the show's cancellation; however, currently, there are no planned demonstrations for this year's event 4.
